The lymphatic system is considered part of the body’s immune system. Some types of injuries, surgeries and other medical conditions can result in a dysfunction of the lymphatic system that allows fluid to build up in the interstitial spaces within the body. This fluid buildup causes localized swelling and pain, and the medical term for this condition is lymphedema. Some cases can be due to genetic disorders.

Posture is needed for our performance in daily life activities such as work, sport, leisure activities and self-care (Lahovski and Paulson, 2012). However poor posture can be caused by extended sitting or standing, prolonging muscle contractions holding postures and therefore, causing abnormalities. Poor posture is becoming more prevalent, especially in office workers and adolescents with the increased use of technology such as computers, laptops, iPads, phones and other devices. It also results in more sedentary activities and subsequently causing musculoskeletal disorders (MSD). These abnormal postures then manifest into tension within the muscles due to being overused and become weak, just like overtraining at the gym (Lahovski and Paulson, 2012). Experiencing postural deviations with muscle imbalances is known to reduce a person’s quality of life, subsequently their wellness.

We as health professionals believe that anterior posture or stooping posture is becoming a major issue in today’s society and is increasing our risk of injury in everyday life. At our clinic, we have designed a posture correction program to help combat anterior posture. There are different packages to suit your needs and budget with a variety of allied health professionals such as Occupational Therapists, Personal Trainers, Chiropractors, and Physiotherapists. We believe that the variation in treatment of anterior posture provides clients with the best outcomes.

Studies show that myofascial release in conjunction with a prescribed exercises program not only significantly improves flexibility and muscular endurance, but important for preventing chronic pain linked to poor posture adaptations (Lahovski and Paulson, 2012). Not only does the program have physical benefits but emotional and chemical. Studies show that engaging in exercise and socialising with others or in a group can positively influence your emotional and mental health.

The program is designed but not limited to myofascial release and postural correction exercise sessions, but also ergonomic recommendations. Research shows that the longevity of pain relief has better outcomes when environmental interventions are made in the context the person is adapting these poor postures. This resonates with our program’s holistic approach to not only correct posture but to prevent and manage poor posture contributors.
